Rudy López is from a small steel town in Indiana called East Chicago, where he currently resides. He developed his organizing skills by working as a community organizer in the neighborhoods of Pilsen and Little Village in Chicago. In the last two years, López has focused on the passage of comprehensive immigration reform, working as a senior organizer for the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) based in Washington, DC. Serving as political director for the Center for Community Change until 2013, he worked with groups across the country to register, educate, and turn out hundreds of thousands of voters in low-income communities and communities of color. His work stresses the importance of social justice through active community engagement.
