Patty Prasada-Rao was born to Indian parents in the United States. Their extended family network instilled in her a strong value for community and what it means to belong together. She graduated with a bachelor's in psychology/pre-med from Johns Hopkins University and a master's in health education/community development from the University of North Carolina. She has worked with nonprofits for more than 20 years both in the United States and overseas, primarily in community development with the ministries of New Song in Sandtown (West Baltimore). In addition to her public health and research background, she has worked in corporate marketing and psychiatric program management and as an area director/campus staff for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Prasada-Rao most recently served as COO for the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) in Chicago. She has served on numerous community development boards both domestically and internationally, including CCDA, Communities First Association (CFA), Kupenda for the Children (Kenya) and PRIA Ministries (India).
